Kimberly Wright
BAYAC Program Director
For the listening ear to hear
Hello there!! My name is Kimberly Wright, born and raised in the city known for spreading PEACE & LOVE, Berkeley, California.
Any spare time I have is spent enjoying spontaneous weekend adventures, gardening, enjoying lots of different kinds of music, caring for farm animals as a volunteer at the EcoVillage Farm Center located in Richmond, California
and/or caring for my 6 feline/canine family members (3 dogs and 3 cats, 5 adopted from the S.P.C.A. and 1 a rescue> cat from Hurricane Katrina). In addition to my feline/canine family, my immediate family members are extremely important to me, so I definitely appreciate the fact that despite the demands of our daily lives we have a family tradition; yearly family vacations.
This is my 8th year working with BAYAC/OCASA. The first year as an AmeriCorps member (getting the job done), the second year as the OCASA Regional Supervisor, a few years later as the Director of Member Development and currently as the Program Director (still getting the job done).
As the Program Director, I am committed to making sure BAYAC/OCASA provides a learning arena for all our AmeriCorps members to grow professionally and personally, supporting our leadership team to ensure they are able to support, develop, and empower our AmeriCorps members and the youth served throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
What I value most about working with BAYAC/OCASA is our strong, dedicated, committed, genuine leadership team and getting to know our AmeriCorps members; their backgrounds, experiences, and why they are committed to service.
I leave you with one of my famous quotes around BAYAC/OCASA:
Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s Theory of Relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermo-dynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.
