WHAT IS BAYAC
AMERICORPS?
BAYAC AmeriCorps is a collaborative of over 30 community
service organizations that serve youth and families in all
6 counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. As part of AmeriCorps,
a federally funded national and community service program,
BAYAC Members commit to a term of service in a full time (1700
hr) or reduced part time (450 hr) position. Members provide
direct services to youth in the areas of Tutoring, Afterschool
Activities, Service Learning, and Volunteer Coordination.
BAYAC AmeriCorps also aims to develop emerging leaders and
to strengthen communities through the relationships and programs
developed by the partner agencies. |

EVERYDAY
HEROES is a feature film
that tells the story of a 21-member BAYAC AmeriCorps team
working as tutors, mentors, and health educators with K-12
students in Richmond, Berkeley and Oakland, California. The
documentary, by award-winning filmmakers, Rick Goldsmith and
Abby Ginzberg, shows these members learning to work with and
appreciate each other while striving to make a difference
in their communities. |
